Tengrinews.kz – Kazakhstan’s Foreign Minister Yermek Kosherbayev and Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov discussed the upcoming state visit of President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev to Russia, Kazinform reports.

Lavrov confirmed that preparations for Tokayev’s November visit are in full swing, calling it a major diplomatic milestone.

“The state visit of President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev to the Russian Federation will, without exaggeration, be an event of international scale,” Lavrov stated.

During the talks, Kosherbayev emphasized the importance of his first official visit to Moscow since his appointment as foreign minister, noting his long-standing diplomatic ties with Russia.

“This visit is particularly meaningful to me as it is my first official foreign visit since my appointment. I greatly value the opportunity to renew personal contacts established during my work in Moscow as Kazakhstan’s ambassador,” he said.

Kosherbayev also highlighted the symbolism of the date — October 22 marks 33 years since the establishment of diplomatic relations between Kazakhstan and Russia.

Lavrov noted that Presidents Vladimir Putin and Kassym-Jomart Tokayev maintain regular communication, having met four times since the beginning of the year.

“There is not a single area of state or human activity in which our countries are not engaged in practical, mutually beneficial cooperation — including at the level of foreign ministries,” Lavrov added.

Earlier, Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov also commented on the preparations, saying that Moscow is “eagerly awaiting President Tokayev’s visit”.

Relations between Kazakhstan and Russia are officially described as a strategic partnership and alliance, built on deep historical ties, mutual trust, and respect for each other’s interests.

Last October, President Vladimir Putin paid a state visit to Astana, during which the two sides signed a series of key agreements further strengthening their multifaceted cooperation.
