Krymbek Kusherbayev appointed deputy Prime-Minister of Kazakhstan

Krymbek Kusherbayev has been appointed deputy Prime-Minister of Kazakhstan, Tengrinews.kz the President’s press-service writes in Twitter.

“Kazakhstan President Nursultan Nazarbayev has appointed Krymbek Kusherbayev deputy Prime-Minister of Kazakhstan,” the message states.

Krymbek Kusherbayev was born in Kazalinsk, Kyzylorda oblast, on May 20, 1955. Before his recent appointment he used to be Kazakhstan President’s advisor. He holds a Doctor of Political Science decree.

In different periods he used to work at different state positions. In 1991-1994 he worked as assistant to deputy Prime-Minister, in 1994-1995 he headed Kalinin regional administration of Almaty.

In 1995 he was appointed deputy head of the office and head of department of internal policies of the office of Kazakhstan Cabinet. In 1995-1996 he worked as deputy head of the office and head of department of territorial development of the office of Kazakhstan Government. In 1996-1997 he served as press-secretary and head of press-service of Kazakhstan President.

From October 1997 to January 1999 he worked as Kazakhstan Minister of Education, Culture and Healthcare. In January 1999 the Ministry was reorganized and he was appointed Minister of Healthcare, Education and Sport. He became Minister of Education and Science in October 1999. On December 18, 2000 he was appointed Akim (Governor) of West-Kazakhstan oblast. In November 2003 he became Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Kazakhstan to Russian and Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Kazakhstan to Finland (combined positions) and Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Kazakhstan to Armenia (combined positions).

On January 24, 2006 he was appointed Akim (Governor) of Mangistau oblast. On December 22, 2011 he resigned from this position after clashed in Zhanaozen. July 13, 2012 he was appointed adviser to Kazakhstan President.
