Kazakhstan's delegation is attending the farewell ceremony dedicated to Nelson Mandela, the official representative of the Central Communications Services Altai Abibulayev told Tengrinews.

"Kazakhstan Foreign Ministry executive secretary and former Kazakhstan Ambassador to South Africa Askar Musinov is there to pay tribute on behalf of Kazakhstan to the ex-President of the Republic of South Africa, the world renowned Nelson Mandela," Abibulayev said.

Days before Kazakhstan President Nursultan Nazarbayev sent a telegram of condolences to South African President Jacob Zuma over Nelson Mandela's death.

Nelson Mandela, the icon of South Africa's anti-apartheid struggle and a colossus of 20th century politics, died on December 5 aged 95, prompting mass mourning and a global celebration of his astonishing life.

Presidents past and present, global figures and A-list celebrities made their way to South Africa to pay the world's respects at a memorial service and state funeral for freedom icon Nelson Mandela.
