Tengrinews.kz - The General Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces has released its final report on the helicopter crash that led to the death of Iran's President Ebrahim Raisi, citing RIA News.

The report states that the primary cause of the crash was severe weather conditions, including the sudden emergence of dense fog.

"The main cause of the helicopter crash was the challenging spring climate in the region, with the sudden appearance of dense fog. As a result, the aircraft collided with a mountain," the Iranian news agency IRIB quoted the General Staff's report.

The helicopter, carrying President Ebrahim Raisi, Foreign Minister Amir Abdollahian, East Azerbaijan Province Governor Malek Rahmati, and Ayatollah Mohammad Ali Ale-Hashemi, the representative of the Supreme Leader in the East Azerbaijan Province, crashed on May 19 in the Varzeqan region in the northwest of the country.

On the morning of May 20, Iranian Vice President Mohsen Mansouri confirmed the reports of the president's death, along with his delegation, in the crash. The delegation was returning from a visit to Azerbaijan. Following the incident, the Chief of the General Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces, Mohammad Bagheri, appointed a commission to investigate the crash.
