First summit of Cooperation Council of Turkic Speaking States to be held in Almaty

Almaty will host the first summit of the Cooperation Council of Turkic Speaking States (CCTS) , Tengrinews.kz reports citing official representative of Kazakhstan Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The first meeting of the Council will be held on October 20 and 21 and will be attended by the presidents of Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, Kyrgyzstan. Turkey will be represented by Prime-Minister Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.

“Enhancement and expansion of trade-economic cooperation were tentatively discussed on October 12 by heads of the economic ministries of the Turkic speaking states. A business forum will be held prior to the summit to promote economic cooperation. It will be attended by representatives of business sectors of Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Turkey. The plan is to create a business council of Turkic speaking states as well,” Altai Abibullayev said.

According to the official representative of Kazakhstan Foreign Ministry, Almaty declaration will be signed upon completion of the summit. “The main objective of the Turkic council is to enhance cultural-humanitarian, scientific and technical cooperation between Turkic speaking states, that is not aimed against interests of any third countries. The Turkic council is open for other interested Turkic speaking states to enter,” the representative said.

Turkish Prime-Minister is also expected to attend a ceremony of opening Kazakh-Turkish liceum in Almaty area.
