Blair calls Kazakhstan officials to set proper priorities

01 june 2013, 17:25
Former Prime-Minister of Great Britain Tony Blair has advised Kazakhstan officials to set proper priorities in their jobs, Tengrinews.kz reports.

“There are guidelines for achieving transformations. The most important is to prioritize things correctly. My experience shows that a person who is a leader at a public position has to set priorities. Time flies by and it flies even faster for state officials. Prioritizing is politically important for achieving changes,” Blair said during the lecture on modernization of regional politics in Kazakhstan President’s State Management Academy in Astana.

Designing and development of polices “should be done intelligently as well,” he continued.

“The intentions may be excellent, but if policies are wrong, they will not lead to success. Once these steps are made their implementation becomes the greatest challenge. Having understood what has to be done, one has to understand how it has to be done. If one wants to achieve changes and transformations, then one has to have a system in place and mechanisms to track the changes. Monitoring requires reliable information about what is actually happening in the field. It should to not just exist but should be brought to attention of the decision-makers,” Blair said.
