Contribution of women into the GDP has reached 40 percent in Kazakhstan, Tengrinews.kz reports citing Kazakhstan President’s Advisor and Chairman of Kazakhstan President's National Commission for Women and Population Policies Gulshara Abdykalikova as saying at the 3rd Eurasian Women’s Summit. “The importance of holding such meetings is based on the fact that the modern world has come to understand women’s participation in all areas of the society’s life. Women’s contribution into Kazakhstan GDP made almost 40 percent,” Gulshara Abdykalikova said. According to her, the number of women-deputies in Kazakhstan Majilis (Lower Chamber of Kazakhstan's Parliament) has increased 1.4-fold and reached 24 percent after the latest elections. She also noted that the number of female managers in the executive bodies had increased. 1 President’s Advisor, 2 Ministers, 5 Vice-Ministers, 5 executive secretaries, heads of central administrations, heads of Prime-Minister’s and Majilis’ offices, 5 deputy Akims (Governors) of oblasts. “Kazakhstan gained 18 lines and was ranked 31st out of 135 countries in the gender equality rating published in October by the analytical group of the Global Economic Forum,” Gulshara Abdykalikova said. According to her, businesswomen should to further step up development of their businesses within the Customs Union. “The purpose of the summit is to attract women to the initiatives implemented in the country upon Kazakhstan President’s instructions. There are still issues that we have to resolve related to business development and participation of women in the Customs Union. In order to make women more active, they have to be attracted to all areas of business. Special attention is given to the Customs Union. The current participation of women of women in the Union is quite good, but we shouldn’t stop on that. We have to be more competitive,” the President’s Advisor noted.
