Michael Skibbe, manager of Swiss Grasshoppers FC, named Kazakhstani born Alexander Merkel one of the most talented football players of Germany, Tengrinews reports citing Vesti.kz.

Michael Skibbe, manager of Swiss Grasshoppers FC, named Kazakhstani born Alexander Merkel one of the most talented football players of Germany, Tengrinews reports citing Vesti.kz.

“Merkel is one of the most talented young German football players. I am very happy that he will be playing for us,” Skibbe said.

Udinese’s midfielder Merkel will be on a loan until June of 2015. Last season he was playing with Watford on a loan from his parent club where in 11 matches he scored one goal.

Alexander Merkel is a son of former Kairat FC football player Vasilii Merkel. He lived in Almaty till the age of 6. Merkel’s family moved to Germany in 1998.
