Biker Dmitry Petrukhin will travel through 35 countries to support Kazakhstan's bid to host EXPO-2017. He made the announcement a press-conference held in Astana, Tengrinews.kz reports. “For me personally the countries that I haven't been to with my bike and Kazakhstan flag are the blank spots on the map that I want to fill. We decided to travel through the Caribbean first. There are 160 countries that are members of the International Exhibitions Bureau. Each voice matters for us this November when the countries will vote for the country that will host EXPO-2017. Only Belgium and Kazakhstan are left there in the bidders list,” Petrukhin said during the press-conference. According to the famous biker and traveler, the countries of the Caribbean were made part of the tour because there are 18 countries in the Caribbean whose choices can dramatically affect the final voting. “We will kick off from Cuba and will travel through the Caribbean and then will ride to the northern part of Latin America, through Guyana and Brazil. This project is expected to take two months, and I think that we will finish it by the end of November,” Petrukhin said. President of Kazakhstan Geographical Society Nurlan Abduov said that after the Commission decides on the host-city for EXPO-2017, Petrukhin will continue his round-the-world trip to support Astana as the host city of EXPO-2017. Petrukhin is sure that Kazakhstan will be granted the honor to host the exhibition. “Winning is one thing. However, the most important task for us is to get as many countries as possible to know about Kazakhstan and to inspire other people's interest in our country. We want them to want to come to Kazakhstan. And we are preparing for this trip very thoroughly,” the biker said. By Shynar Ospanova
