Tengrinews.kz – Almaty’s Kairat pulled off a sensation by reaching the group stage of the Champions League. In a tense penalty shootout, the Kazakh club came out on top against Celtic, and the victory sparked a wave of emotions — from fan joy to heated discussions online. Most supporters watched the game at home, and one social media video drew particular attention: a man watching the match almost silently, with his emotional reaction captured by his wife.

Video

Young mother Ayzhan shared a post on the social network Threads, showing her husband's reaction to the decisive moment of the game. In the video, he watches the penalty shootout and, when the ball hits the net, holds back a scream of joy so as not to wake their sleeping children. He silently jumps up, waves his arms, and processes the victory with intense emotion, all while trying to stay as quiet as possible. The clip quickly went viral.

“My husband has learned to scream silently! And yes, Kairat is the champion!” – the woman wrote.

Audience reaction

The post hit social media recommendations and quickly gained traction. Many users admitted they were touched by the man’s “silent joy,” and comments flooded in with similar stories:

“Exactly how I was yesterday. I have little daughters at home.”

“Same here. You think about not waking the kids, but deep down you’re more worried your wife will scold you.”

“This is cruel of you. At least let him yell — when else will we reach the Champions League group stage?”

“I think many fathers of young kids mastered this skill last night.”

Family story

We reached out to the young family to learn more. The video was filmed by Aizhan, featuring her husband Bek. Together, they are raising two daughters — Aisha (5) and Zere (3).

“We’re raising two little princesses. My husband has been passionate about football since childhood and plays in an amateur league himself. So of course, he couldn’t miss the match. But since the kids were already asleep, he tried not to wake them. Still, during the penalty shootout, after our goalkeeper saved the first shot, he couldn’t hold back his emotions — and our older daughter woke up,” Ayzhan shared.

31-year-old Bek told us he’s been into football since he was around 9 or 10 years old.

“I didn’t go to this match because I didn’t manage to buy a ticket online — all the seats sold out very quickly. I started training with a local team when I was 13. At the time, the level of training wasn’t very high, and when I had to choose between studying at the lyceum or enrolling in a sports school, I decided to focus on my education,” he added.

Today, Bek continues to actively play football in an amateur league. His passion for the sport remains an important part of his life: it helps him stay in shape and enjoy the game alongside his teammates.
