A cycling marathon, dedicated to the International Olympic Day, was held in Almaty, Tengrinews.kz reports citing the press-service of city’s Akimat. Akim (Mayor) of Almaty city Akhmetzhan Yessimov, Olympic champion Yermakhan Ibraimov, Beijin’s Olympic medal-winner Nurbakyt Tengizbayev and champions of Asian Water-Polo Clubs Championship Almaty-based Astana water-polo team took part in the event. According to the Akim, cycling marathons are becoming a tradition in Almaty and attract more and more people every year. “It is a hard evidence, that the number of people who are leading a healthy life and even promote it is steadily growing. Famous Kazakh athletes and organizers of the recent Courage to be First marathon participated in our cycling marathon,” Yessimov said. “The winners and most active participants have received memorable prizes and gifts. Children from Radostovtsa 230 club were the youngest prize holders of the marathon. Besides, the cycling racers received signed balls from Astana water-polo club,” Akimat press-service said.
