Tengrinews.kz - A man was convicted of fraud related to "Dubai chocolate" in Astana. The swindler presented himself as a seller and promised goods, collected more than 300 thousand tenge from gullible buyers, but they never received the sweets.

The details of the case were reported by the Interdistrict Court for Criminal Cases.

Citizen A. was accused of fraud committed repeatedly (Article 190, Part 3, Clause 4 of the Criminal Code). As specified in the court's report, the article provides for a punishment of 3 to 7 years of restriction or imprisonment, with or without confiscation of property, as well as deprivation of the right to hold certain positions for up to 6 years.

According to the case materials, A. deceived 10 people, promising to sell them "Dubai chocolate" and receiving money for this. In total, we are talking about the amount of 301 020 tenge. But he never provided the goods.

Testimonies of the victims, bank transfers and case materials confirmed the guilt of the defendant. The prosecutor's office requested 3 years and 6 months of restriction of freedom for the man. The defense, in turn, insisted on a sentence not related to imprisonment.

Ultimately, the court took into account the defendant's repentance and compensation for damages to the victims. The man was sentenced to 3 years of restricted freedom. The sentence has not yet entered into legal force.

This is not the first case of fraud in the country related to the sale of "Dubai chocolate." Earlier, the capital's police identified criminals who deceived people by advertising the expensive delicacy on social networks. You can find out the details of the case at the link.

In the summer of 2024, the Internet was actively discussing "Dubai chocolate." The unusual delicacy stands out not only for its taste, but also for its bright appearance.

But doctors warn that the sweetness is extremely dangerous for both the figure and health in general.
