Kazakhstani school students win medals at prestigious international chemistry olympiad

Tengrinews.kz — Kazakhstani school students won four medals at one of the world’s most prestigious chemistry olympiads. The intellectual competition in Tashkent brought together more than 350 participants from 90 countries, citing the press service of the Ministry of Education.

Kazakhstan’s national team achieved a 100 percent result. All four team members won medals, securing one gold and three silver awards.

The gold medal was won by Aizere Zheniskhanova, a final-year school student from Ust-Kamenogorsk. The silver medalists were 11th-grade students Danil Poletayev from Almaty, Abilmansur Kali and Anssar Zhaksylykov from Astana.

They completed two five-hour rounds — theoretical and practical — solving complex chemistry problems and carrying out laboratory work.

The International Chemistry Olympiad is among the seven most prestigious subject competitions in the world for school students. Kazakhstan has participated in it since 1998 and for many years has been among the countries demonstrating strong results.

Earlier, at the International Physics Olympiad in Colombia, Kazakhstani school students won five gold medals at once for the first time in the country’s history.
