Special attention during the meeting was given to preparations for the upcoming state visit of Russian President Vladimir Putin to Kazakhstan, scheduled for the end of May this year.

The Head of State noted that Astana attaches great importance to this event.

“We consider this visit as the central event of the bilateral agenda this year. I am confident it will become an important stage in deepening the allied relations between our countries,” the President said.

Sergey Lavrov informed the Head of State about the progress of preparations for the visit and noted that all key issues of multifaceted cooperation between Kazakhstan and Russia are being thoroughly worked out at the level of governments and foreign ministries of the two countries.

The interlocutors also exchanged views on current regional and international issues.

It should be recalled that on March 20, Tokayev held a phone conversation with Putin. At that time, it was reported that the Russian President would visit Kazakhstan on a state visit in May.
