Tokayev invites investors to join Kazakhstan's agricultural transformation

Tengrinews.kz – President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev has called on international investors, food producers, technology companies, and AI developers to take part in Kazakhstan's large-scale transformation of its agricultural sector, according to Akorda.
Speaking at the 38th plenary session of the Foreign Investors' Council in Astana, Tokayev described sustainable agricultural development as one of Kazakhstan's strategic priorities.
The President said artificial intelligence and advanced automation technologies are becoming the foundation of a new agricultural revolution.
"They make it possible to significantly increase crop yields, use water resources more efficiently, and substantially reduce environmental impact. Kazakhstan fully recognizes the importance of these processes. Thanks to the use of digital planning technologies and predictive analytics, our country has achieved a record grain harvest of 27 million tonnes for the second consecutive year. To build on this result, we are fully digitizing agricultural land and accelerating the adoption of drones, satellite navigation, and automated weather stations," Tokayev said.
He added that all government support measures and subsidy programs for agricultural producers are being transferred to digital platforms to simplify administrative procedures.
According to the President, integrated digital platforms have already been introduced in the livestock sector, eliminating paper-based documentation and improving data reliability. More than 200 agricultural enterprises now operate as "smart farms," using digital technologies and data-driven management. Kazakhstan is also implementing a digital product traceability system to ensure transparency throughout the supply chain, from producer to consumer.
Tokayev said Kazakhstan's long-term goal is not only to expand agricultural production but also to become a regional hub for value-added food processing.
"We do not intend to limit ourselves to exporting raw materials. Our goal is to create high added value within the country by developing a modern food processing industry, introducing advanced technologies, and building sustainable production and supply chains. This sector offers significant investment opportunities at every stage of the production cycle," he said.
The President noted that Kazakhstan is actively introducing artificial intelligence, robotics, and Industry 4.0 technologies into the food processing sector. AI-powered quality control systems, predictive maintenance technologies, automated production lines, and intelligent supply chain management are expected to improve productivity, enhance product quality, and ensure compliance with the highest international safety standards.
He added that investments in smart logistics systems, automated warehouses, cold storage infrastructure, and modern packaging technologies would help create fully integrated digital supply chains across the agro-industrial sector.
"We invite international investors, leading food producers, technology companies, and artificial intelligence solution developers to take part in this large-scale transformation," Tokayev said.
During the event, the President also presented state awards to several participants of the Foreign Investors' Council in recognition of their contribution to Kazakhstan's economic development and efforts to strengthen the country's investment attractiveness.
