Tengrinews.kz – First Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs Baurzhan Alenov commented on intensified inspections in Almaty. He was asked about this on the sidelines of the Senate.
According to him, these are routine operations carried out in different regions of the country.
“This is a routine operation. We conduct such activities in Astana and other regions. Now it is taking place in Almaty,” Alenov explained.
The First Deputy Minister clarified that the main focus will be on compliance with traffic rules and public order. At the same time, he denied assumptions about large-scale crackdowns.
“We should not talk about any kind of purge. I repeat: this is a routine operation. There will be no witch hunt,” Baurzhan Alenov assured.
According to him, such operations are carried out when necessary and are temporary in nature.
What happened
Earlier, a large-scale operation called “Stop Violations” began in Almaty, during which additional police units from other regions were sent to the city.
According to the Interior Ministry, officers from Astana, Akmola, Karaganda, and Zhambyl regions were involved to strengthen control over road safety and public order.
The police emphasized that this practice is systematic and applied across the country depending on the operational situation. The goal of the measures is to reduce the number of offenses and improve discipline on the roads.
Context
Earlier, Majilis deputy Bakytzhan Bazarbek stated that there are systemic traffic violations committed by so-called “majors” — the children of officials and businessmen. According to him, such drivers regularly violate the rules and remain unpunished, which requires strict measures.
“We do not see them being fined, dismissed, or held accountable. Therefore, a large-scale cleanup of the internal affairs bodies is needed,” the deputy said.
He also emphasized that the problem is not local but nationwide and requires restoring order across the entire country.
