This data was released by the American nonprofit organization OpenSecrets. The amount exceeded the spending on the 2020 election campaigns - $15.1 billion (€13.8 billion). For comparison - in 2016, according to the organization, the election race cost "only" $6.5 billion (€5.9 billion).

According to the organization, Democratic Party candidate Kamala Harris was more successful in mobilizing funds for her support.

Her campaign directly raised more than $1 billion, of which 40% came from small donors, as well as $586 million through supporting political committees.

Donald Trump's campaign raised $382 million directly, 28% of which came from small donors, while affiliated committees added $694 million.

Pennsylvania led the list of swing states in presidential campaign ad spending with $264 million, followed by Michigan with $151 million and Georgia with $137 million.

On Meta platforms like Facebook and Instagram, Democrats spent $132.4 million compared to Republicans with $24.7 million, and on the X platform, Republicans outspent Democrats by $1.1 million to $150,000.

The United States is currently in the midst of a presidential election, with Republican Donald Trump and Democrat Kamala Harris leading the way. This is the 60th presidential election in the history of the United States, which will elect the 47th president of this country.

In the upcoming elections, Americans will determine not only a new president, but also a vice president, 468 members of Congress, governors in 11 states, and representatives to local governments.
