Tengrinews.kz - The Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Supervision (Rosselkhoznadzor) has removed information from its website about the detection of the deadly bacteria listeria in chicken meat supplied from Kazakhstan to Russia.
When trying to access the news about listeria in poultry from Kazakhstan, a 404 error appears, with the message: "This page has been deleted or does not exist. Please return to the homepage and try again."
Earlier, Rosselkhoznadzor reported that listeria was detected in a sample from a batch of chilled broiler chicken fillet from the Kazakh producer Makinsk Poultry Farm. The agency introduced enhanced laboratory control over the producer.
Later, the Committee for Veterinary Control and Supervision of the Ministry of Agriculture stated that it had not received any confirmation from Rosselkhoznadzor regarding the results of the laboratory tests.
"To clarify the reasons for this situation, the Akmola regional territorial inspection of the Committee for Veterinary Control and Supervision will conduct an inspection of the enterprise and take product samples for laboratory testing," the statement said.
Listeria is a bacterium that causes the infectious disease listeriosis and can affect the central nervous system and reproductive organs. It is particularly dangerous for pregnant women, newborns, the elderly, cancer patients, and individuals with weakened immune systems. The incubation period lasts up to 90 days. The primary route of infection is through food.
