Kazakhstan to increase grain exports

According to the ministry, the main markets will include Central Asian countries, China, Afghanistan, Italy, and others.
"Efforts are underway to arrange grain shipments of up to 2 million tons to countries such as Azerbaijan, Afghanistan, Iran, Iraq, North African nations, and the EU via Black Sea and Baltic ports," the statement said.
It was also noted that Kazakhstan annually exports 8-9 million tons of grain, including 6.5-7.5 million tons of wheat. The export geography covers more than 40 countries.
"Traditional markets include Central Asia, Afghanistan, China, Turkey, Iran, Italy, and Tunisia. As of late November this year, 6.3 million tons of grain have been exported. Exports of the new harvest amounted to 2.37 million tons, 52% higher than in the same period in 2023," the report stated.
Earlier, Mazhilis deputy Aidarbek Kozhanazarov proposed restricting access for Russian goods to the Kazakhstani market. He noted that on September 23, 2024, Russia imposed unilateral restrictions on the transit of Kazakh grain and certain agricultural products through its territory.
