Tengrinews.kz – A court in Akmola Region has sentenced a man who repeatedly made false bomb threats, deliberately seeking imprisonment for the comfort of life behind bars, the regional court’s press service reported.
The Arshaly District Court reviewed the case of a shepherd, identified as M., who had previously been convicted twice for false terrorism reports. In August 2025, he called the emergency number 112 claiming a bomb was planted at a bus station in Astana. Emergency services responded, but the threat was not confirmed.
“In court, M. admitted his guilt and explained his actions by the desire to return to prison, where he would have free food, clothing, and shelter, as he currently has no permanent residence,” the court statement said.
Taking into account his prior convictions for similar crimes and his failure to reform, the court sentenced him to two years in a maximum-security facility.
