Tengrinews.kz – A week-long heatwave has prompted storm alerts in 16 regions of Kazakhstan, according to Kazhydromet.
In many areas, temperatures are expected to soar up to 41°C, with authorities warning of extreme fire hazards and harsh weather conditions including dust storms, thunderstorms, and strong winds.
Key alerts by region:
- Almaty – Extreme fire hazard remains in effect.
- Shymkent – Northeastern winds of up to 20 m/s expected, with daytime highs reaching 40°C and extreme fire risk continuing.
- Ulytau Region – Temperatures to rise up to 41°C in the south. Strong winds (15–18 m/s), especially in Jezkazgan, where a heat of 35°C is forecast. Extreme fire danger persists.
- Turkistan Region – Dust storms, 41°C heat, and wind gusts up to 23 m/s expected. Hazardous fire conditions remain in place.
- Zhambyl Region – Temperatures will climb from 32–37°C to 36–41°C by late July, alongside strong winds and continued fire danger.
- Atyrau Region – Thunderstorms expected in the west; heat up to 39°C in Atyrau. Most areas face extreme or high fire risk.
- Jetisu Region – Thunderstorms expected in mountainous areas; heat up to 35°C in Taldykorgan.
- Kyzylorda Region – Dust storms and 41°C heat in central and eastern areas. Extreme fire hazard continues.
- Mangystau Region – Dust storms and 38–40°C heat in western and northern areas. Fire risk remains high.
- Akmola Region – Thunderstorms and wind gusts expected in the north and east. High fire danger in central and southern parts.
- Almaty Region – Thunderstorms in mountainous areas; up to 37°C heat in Konaev with ongoing extreme fire danger.
- Abai Region – Heat up to 35°C in the south with high to extreme fire risk.
- Aktobe Region – 35–38°C heat in the south and west; fire danger across most of the region.
- East Kazakhstan Region – Thunderstorms in the east, with high fire risk continuing in several areas.
- Pavlodar Region – Thunderstorms and fog expected, with persistent fire hazards in the south and east.
- Karaganda Region – Fog at night and in the morning in the north, strong winds in the south. Fire risk remains high across the region.
- West Kazakhstan Region – Thunderstorms and 35–38°C heat expected. Ural city will see storm activity and elevated fire danger.
- North Kazakhstan Region – Thunderstorms, hail, and fog forecasted, especially around Petropavlovsk, which may also face strong northern winds.
