Tengrinews.kz – Frosts are expected in Almaty on October 7. Rescuers have urged residents and visitors to avoid mountain trips on this day.
Residents of the city have started receiving SMS alerts warning about the upcoming frosts.
Tourists heading to the mountains are reminded that the interseason period is the most dangerous for hiking. Before setting out, it is important to study the terrain, inform relatives of your route, and take warm clothing, food supplies, a charged phone, and a power bank.
"Refrain from hiking in the mountains under adverse weather conditions — wait for the weather to stabilize. If you are already in the mountains, do not delay your descent until late hours: there is a risk of getting lost and failing to find the way back. Avoid hypothermia, especially in mountainous areas, and follow safety rules in nature," the Emergency Department stated.
Rescuers also reminded that since September 9, a voluntary registration system has been in place for mountain routes in Almaty. Tourists are advised to submit a route sheet in advance to the city’s Emergency Department, indicating the group composition and return time, via email (Dchs_alm@emer.kz) or through number 112.
In addition, due to lower nighttime temperatures, Almaty rescuers recommend safety precautions: do not use gas stoves for heating, avoid overloading electrical networks, and check household appliances for proper operation.
According to Kazhydromet forecasts, Almaty will experience variable cloudiness without precipitation on October 7. Nighttime frosts are expected down to minus 3°C, with daytime temperatures reaching up to 16°C. On October 8, variable cloudiness continues, with nighttime temperatures up to 3°C and daytime highs up to 15°C.
