Freezing Astana and rainy Almaty: three-day weather forecast

Tengrinews.kz – Kazakhstan’s meteorological service has issued the weather forecast for Astana and Almaty for December 6, 7 and 8.

Astana forecast

December 6: partly cloudy, occasional light snow, fog and ice glaze. Southwest wind at 3–8 m/s overnight and 7–12 m/s during the day. Temperatures: –2 to –4°C at night, –0 to –2°C during the day.
December 7: partly cloudy, intermittent snow, drifting snow, icy conditions. Southwest wind at 9–14 m/s. Temperatures: –3 to –5°C at night, –0 to –2°C during the day.
December 8: cloudy, occasional snow, drifting snow, ice glaze. Northeast–easterly wind at 9–14 m/s. Temperatures both day and night: –3 to –5°C.

Almaty forecast

December 6: partly cloudy, no precipitation. Westerly wind shifting to easterly at 3–8 m/s. Temperatures: 0 to –2°C at night, +6 to +8°C during the day.
December 7: partly cloudy, daytime rain. Easterly wind at 3–8 m/s. Temperatures: –0 to –2°C at night, +6 to +8°C during the day.
December 8: partly cloudy, daytime rain; fog overnight and in the morning. Southwest wind at 3–8 m/s. Temperatures: –0 to –2°C at night, +3 to +5°C during the day.

Earlier, forecasters warned of unstable weather across Kazakhstan from December 6 to 8, with rain, snow, fog, ice and blizzards expected. By the end of the period, an Arctic anticyclone is forecast to move over the country, bringing a sharp drop in temperatures.
