Tengrinews.kz – Three tourists from the Czech Republic reached the base of Mount Belukha but were unable to make their way back and required assistance.

The Ministry of Emergency Situations (MES) of Kazakhstan provided details on Thursday, September 18.

"Rescuers in the East Kazakhstan region received information about a group of tourists who climbed to the base of Mount Belukha but, having miscalculated their strength, could not descend on their own," the statement said.

The tourists’ geolocation was tracked, and communication with them was maintained.

A joint rescue team from the MES and Katon-Karagay National Park navigated difficult high-altitude terrain to reach the group near Lake Kokkol at around 2,000 meters above sea level. The tourists were located and escorted safely back to the camp at Lake Yazevoye.

The MES reminded both Kazakh and foreign citizens planning mountain trips or hikes to leave their coordinates with the 112 emergency service.
