Astana braces for heavy snow while Almaty warms with rain: three-day forecast

Tengrinews.kz – Kazakhstan’s meteorologists have issued a three-day weather forecast for Astana and Almaty for 12–14 December.

Astana forecast

12 December: Variable cloudiness, daytime snow and blowing snow. Southeast wind shifting to southwest at 9–14 m/s. Temperatures: –11 to –13°C at night, –3 to –5°C during the day.

13 December: Variable cloudiness, occasional snow and blowing snow. Southwest wind 9–14 m/s. Temperatures: –5 to –7°C at night, –3 to –5°C during the day.

14 December: Variable cloudiness, intermittent snow and blowing snow. Southwest wind 9–14 m/s, gusts 15–20 m/s during the day. Temperatures: –7 to –9°C at night, 0 to –2°C during the day.

Almaty forecast

12 December: Variable cloudiness, no precipitation. Southeast wind 3–8 m/s. Temperatures: –7 to –9°C at night, +4 to +6°C during the day.

13 December: Variable cloudiness, morning and daytime precipitation (rain, snow). Southeast wind 3–8 m/s. Temperatures: 0 to –2°C at night, +5 to +7°C during the day.

14 December: Variable cloudiness, daytime precipitation (rain, snow). Southeast wind 5–10 m/s. Temperatures: 0 to –2°C at night, +3 to +5°C during the day.

Earlier, forecasters reported that an Atlantic cyclone is moving toward Kazakhstan, bringing unstable weather — rain, snow, icy conditions and, in the north, center and east, heavy snowfall and blizzards.
