Another banknote to be updated in Kazakhstan

Tengrinews.kz — In 2027, Kazakhstan will update another banknote. This was announced by the Chairman of the National Bank, Timur Suleimenov.

According to him, next year, a new 20,000 tenge banknote will be issued. The old one will continue to circulate in parallel until it is withdrawn from circulation.

“We already have the new 20,000 tenge banknote, we have shown the designs, but there is the process of producing the banknotes and preparing the banks, the entire ATM network. Cash circulation is a complex matter, so it will appear later, next year. And with this, the entire series of banknotes will be fully updated,” Timur Suleimenov said today at a briefing at the National Bank.

Journalists inquired whether Kazakhstan plans to update coins in a similar way to banknotes.

“I can't say anything about coins, no decisions have been made yet. We always have various plans on cash circulation, but no decisions have been made yet,” the Chairman of the National Bank reiterated.
