Tengrinews.kz - The difficult situation on the national highways has caused outrage among drivers. Truck drivers are standing in kilometer-long queues, while others are driving on the wrong side of the road to bypass them. The cause of the problem is explained in the article.

According to the Committee of administrative polic, the issue is due to increased border control with the Russian Federation.

"Trucks are standing at the border checkpoint. The queue is related to stricter checks by the Russian side at the border. This is not a permanent situation, but rather artificially created by the Russian side due to the sanctions imposed," said the committee's press service.

The situation is further complicated by unfavorable weather conditions. As the weather worsens, traffic on the highways is periodically blocked.

"The congestion has formed on the Russian side due to road closures there caused by worsening weather conditions. As a result, transport drivers are seeking alternative border crossing points (nearby) to cross the border," said the press service of the State Revenue Committee of the Ministry of Finance of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

Truck drivers are actively sharing videos showing them waiting in lines for hours in freezing weather.

Drivers of passenger cars are also speaking out, with many admitting they are forced to overtake trucks by driving in the opposite lane. One driver posted a video showing how he navigated the entire road on the wrong side, occasionally pulling onto the shoulder to let oncoming traffic pass.

Such actions are permissible due to the road markings on this stretch, but drivers must ensure they do not cause obstructions or accidents.

"In the future, we will propose to the Ministry of Transport to expand lanes near border checkpoints," the press service of the Committee of administrative polic noted.
