Tengrinews.kz – Kazakhstan is bracing for freezing temperatures as a northern anticyclone is set to bring a sharp cold snap from December 9 to 11, according to the Kazhydromet weather service.
Meteorologists note that after a mild autumn, residents will feel the first breath of winter. Starting December 9, the northern and northwestern regions of Kazakhstan will be hit by the cold front.
“Fueled by cold air masses, the anticyclone will bring a halt to precipitation and a sharp drop in temperatures, first in the northern part of the country and later spreading across Kazakhstan,” meteorologists reported.
Temperatures in the northern regions will drop to –22 to –30°C at night, while the eastern areas could see lows of –27 to –35°C. In the south and southeast, temperatures will range from –10 to –20°C.
