Asian Winter Games tickets brought $1.6 million

Kazakhstan sold 244 million tenge (around $1.6 million) worth of tickets to the 7th Asian Winter Games 2011, BNews reports. Yevgeniy Nikitinskiy, Vice-president of the Executive Directorate of the Organization Committee of the games said that the number of tickets sold was close to the target amount. The total of 350 thousand tickets was issued for the games. The 2011 Games were held in two of Kazakhstan’s largest cities Astana and Almaty between January 30 and February 6. It was the first time Kazakhstan hosted such a large event. Kazakhstan won the greatest number of medals ever in the Games and topped the medal table. Kazakhstan got 32 gold, 21 silver and 17 bronze medals.
