The competition between Kazakhstan and Belgium for hosting EXPO-2017 is friendly, Kazakhstan Ministry of Economic Development and Trade cites Director of Belgian pavilion Etienne Dubuc at the World Universal Exhibition EXPO-2012 Yeosu in Korea as saying, Tengrinews.kz reports. “Official opening of Kazakhstan's exposition at the World Universal Exhibition Expo-2012 Yeosu in Korea was held on May 11, 2012. Special emphasis is placed on Astana that is a candidate for hosting EXPO. After Kazakhstan pavilion was opened, Kelimbetov visited the pavilion of Belgium, Kazakhstan’s competitor in the bid. Director of Belgian pavilion Mr.Etienne Dubuc assured that the competition between Kazakhstan and Belgium for hosting EXPO-2017 is a friendly one,” the Ministry’s press-service writes. The pavilions of the candidates for EXPO-2017, Belgium and Kazakhstan, are symbolically located vis-a-vis. “Kazakhstan has presented an interesting structure today and we have good chances of hosting EXPO-2017 ‘Energy of the Future’ in Astana upon the initiative of Kazakhstan President. Kazakhstan has thoroughly prepared for participation in EXPO-2012 and I think that it will be appreciated by experts,” head of Kazakhstan delegation, deputy Prime-Minister of Kazakhstan Kairat Kelimbetov said at the opening of the pavilion. This is the 4th time Kazakhstan presents its pavilion at the EXPO. The total area of Kazakhstan pavilion is 774 square meters. The exposition’s concept -- traditions and innovations in culture and science, business and tourism -- is demonstrated on the background of water theme. The pavilion is divided into 6 sections. The visitors can not only watch but also take part in the interactive show-program, take a virtual tour of Astana and Expo-City and find out many new facts about Kazakhstan’s capital. Kazakhstan pavilion is ready to for over 400 thousand visitors in 93 days of EXPO-2012. This year the world fair is held from May 12 to August 12 under the slogan The Living Ocean and Coast. 108 countries of Asia, Europe, the Americas and Africa are taking part in the event together with 10 international organizations.
