As of now, 74 e-government services are available for Kazakhstan residents, Tengrinews.kz reports. This was announced by Zhomart Amirkhanov, in charge of promotion of e.gov.kz, at the BarCamp Central Asia 2011, educational [un]conference for New Media professionals. In the current year, 15 new services have been added. According to Mr. Amirkhanov, the most effective service would be obtainment of a package of associated certificates. “Now parents can obtain a whole package of documents related to their new-born baby as one package at one haul (…) not only can they get all the documents, but can also queue electronically for a kindergarten”, he said. Apart from the possibility of on-line payment of fines and penalties through e.gov.kz, one can now obtain permanent address certificate or file a legal suit without leaving their homes. e-Government (short for electronic government, also known as e-gov, digital government, online government, or connected government) is digital interaction between a government and citizens (G2C), government and businesses/commerce/eCommerce (G2B), and between government agencies (G2G), Government-to-Religious Movements/Church (G2R), Government-to-Households (G2H). This digital interaction consists of governance, information and communication technology (ICT), business process re-engineering (BPR), and e-citizens at all levels of government (city, state/province, national, and international). E-Government should enable anyone visiting a city website to communicate and interact with city employees via the Internet with graphical user interfaces (GUI), instant-messaging (IM), audio/video presentations, and in any way more sophisticated than a simple email letter to the address provided at the site and the use of technology to enhance the access to and delivery of government services to benefit citizens, business partners and employees.
