Hungary is hoping that cooperation with Kazakhstan will allow it to get out of crisis, Tengrinews.kz reports citing Prime-Minister of Hungary Viktor Orban as saying at the Kazakhstan-Hungarian business forum. “In the last 20 years we have discovered in the West that we are in a crisis of debts, low activity and demography. At the same time a good investment climate is created in the East and the economy is growing and we welcome it. Hungary has changed in the past years. We have not only got a new government, but also changed our mentality and the approach to general issues: this is the main source of our international vision. The Hungarians understand that we cannot live like before. We started thinking this way two years ago. Before that our economic indexes were low, even lower than in Greece. But we did not lose our hopes and ambitions. 50 Hungarian companies consider it a priority to send their representatives to this forum to improve and enhance the relations with Kazakhstan partners,” Orban said and tagged Kazakhstan the biggest partner in Central Asia. “We read the Address on modernization of economy and hope that the Hungarian party will have an opportunity to implement the joint project,” Prime-Minister of Hungary said and noted that his country sees joint projects in agriculture, pharmaceutics, medicine, construction, engineering, car manufacturing, energy and renewable energy sources. Head of Kazakhstan government Karim Massimov states that 50 joint Hungarian-Kazakhstan companies are currently working in Kazakhstan. Last year’s commodities turnover with Hungary made $270 million and the volume of Hungarian investments to Kazakhstan economy made $57 million. “Success of Kazakhstan industrialization program depends on the investment climate. Agriculture has traditionally been one of the leading sectors of Kazakhstan's economy. We are interested in Hungary’s experience in introduction of innovative technologies in agriculture. I believe that engineering, chemical industry, tourism are promising directions for advanced cooperation. The government will ensure that all the preferences are provided in these directions,” Karim Massimov said. Hungarian Prime-Minister also met with Kazakhstan President Nursultan Nazarbayev.
