Kazakhstan and India to cooperate in peaceful use of atomic energy

Kazakhstan and India have signed an agreement on cooperation in peaceful use of atomic energy, Interfax – Kazakhstan reports. The document was signed by President Nazarbayev and Prime Minister Manmohan Singh. “We have signed an agreement on cooperation in peaceful use of atomic energy. India plans to increase nuclear power stations capabilities fivefold and import over 2 000 tons of uranium per year by 2014. The following agreement on uranium enrichment is of prime importance to us”, Kazakhstan’s President said. Earlier Indian ONGC Videsh Limited secured a 25% stake in a Caspian Sea exploration block.
