Austrian Alpine Community managers will visit Kazakhstan upon invitation of renowned Kazakhstan climber Maksut Zhumayev to help construct Kok-Zhailau ski resort, Tengrinews.kz reports. According to Zhumayev, directors of the European Alpine Community will visit Almaty to make recommendations on development and preservation of Kazakhstan mountains. The experts will offer their qualified opinion on whether it is possible to construct large-scale international ski resorts in Kazakhstan and recommend the right way to do it without harming the nature. They will announce their judgment on whether Kazakhstan ski-resorts will be of interest for the European tourists. The European experts will visit Almaty on May 16-21, 2012. “All the routes in Austria are classified, whereas we don’t have any system here in Kazakhstan. Moreover, our mountain routes are not developed, not cared-for and that’s why they are not safe. For example, if a family with a child would walk in the mountains and the child would run twenty meters off nobody can guarantee that he wouldn’t fall down a cliff. I am sure that we could make our mountains more people-friendly by using green technologies. And it is not necessary to trench the mountains to do this. It is possible to resolve all the issues by treating the environment with due care,” Maksut Zhumayev said. Austrian Alpine Community experts are also interested in including our mountain routes into their annual tourists’ guide as soon as they will be ready (i.e. developed, classified and described). According to the representatives of the Community, Austrian tourists have already walked the length and breadth of the Alpes and they are interested in new safe and interesting routes. Kazakhstan mountains could become of great interest for the Europeans, provided that at least basic infrastructure is made available.
