Foreign media evaluated adventure action movie Zhauzhurek Myn Bala (1000 Brave Boys), Tengrinews.kz reports. Akan Satayev’s movie was shown for the media on April 26 in Almaty. A selection of foreign media, including BBC World News, Reuters, Time, The Los Angeles Times, The Independent, Standard, Hollywood Reporter and Variety, visited the shooting process as well. Here are some of the comments made by the foreign media: “Kazakh filmmakers hope to shake off that image — and energize their country’s movie industry — with a big budget historical epic” -- The Washington Times “Myn Bala is a film that aims to put the Kazakh movie industry on the map” -- London Evening Standard “Romantic Kazakh epos” -- Reuters “It looks like Kazakhfilm is moving into focus” -- Variety “Lavish battle scenes” -- The Independent “Kazakhstan cinematographic achievement” -- BBC World News Young actors Assylkhan Tolepov, Ayan Utepbergen and Kuralai Anarbekova told about the huge casting and challenges during the shooting process. “We started training 2 months before the shooting: horse-riding, archery and fighting at full tilt,” they said. The movie director Akan Satayev told about the shooting process and the titanic work that had been done. “It took 9 days and 6 cameras to shoot the scene of Anrakai battle. And the number of people on the movie set (the crowd and the stunt artists) reached 1,000,” Satayev said. Historical-adventurous action movie Zhauzhurek Myn Bala is the biggest and the most long-awaited project of 2012. The movie will be released in Kazakhstan on May 3. European audience will be able to watch the movie during the Film Market in Cannes on May 17. Film Market is looking for interesting and commercially potent films for international distributors.
