According to preliminary information, low-quality and inaccurate soil survey are among the chief reasons that caused the 5-story building to completely collapse in Bessoba region in Karaganda, Kazakhstan Today writes. Head of the special prosecutors department of Karaganda oblast Mukhamedkarim Bektursinov has announced the preliminary reasons of the accident at the meeting with participation of Karaganda oblast Akim (Governor) Abelgazy Kussainov. “According to geodesic inspection, the building's collapsed was caused by an inaccurate evaluation of the soil’s conditions and low-quality construction works. A criminal case on low-quality construction has been initiated. The constructors and the persons accountable for different inspections of the building are being questioned. A full scale construction check will be made before the final decision will be announced,” he noted. Earlier Tengrinews.kz English reported that a 5-story residential building collapsed in Karaganda on April 6. 138 people were evacuated the day before the accident. The multi-apartment residential building was constructed at the cost of the interest participants (future residents) and put into operation in 2009.
