On April 13, 2011, temperature rose to 24.5 degrees above zero. At 2 p.m. on April 14 it reached 27 degrees Centigrade setting a new absolute temperature record,” Kussainova said. The expert said that average temperature in Astana in April is usually a little over 5 degrees above zero. Average for Almaty is +12 degrees Centigrade. “The absolute maximum in Almaty has is not been beaten although there have been hot days this year. On April 14 the temperature reached 29 degrees Centigrade, same as in 2001,” the expert said.
