Police has started arresting people for small crimes in Astana, Tengrinews.kz reports citing press-service of Astana Interior Department. “April 12 regional police inspectors apprehended three residents throwing garbage in public areas. Specialized inter-regional administrative court ruled out an administrative arrest for 1 day for such garbage thrower. The apprehended are kept at a special reception center of Astana Interior Department,” the press-service wrote. A rental contract was terminated with a café owned for failure to observe anti-smoking rules. After a police officer warned the owner that smoking was banned in public areas, the owner failed to take steps to ensure that visitors don't smok in his café. Since the beginning of the year police officers have made 4,000 protocols of administrative crimes and fined the violators 10 million tenge ($68 thousand). Last week Kazakhstan President Nursultan Nazarbayev suggested to step up punishments for small crimes and focus on violators of public order , including by imprisoning people for three days for throwing chewing gums in wrong places.
