The 11th Jazz Festival is being held in the concert hall of the Schoolchildren’s Palace in Almaty, Tengrinews.kz reports. Swiss band Ost West Inspiration and Pablo Held trio from Germany played on April 12. “It is very pleasant that the festival is so alive. This is thanks to the partners from the embassies. 10 countries are taking part in our festival this year,” the organizer and the Director of Almaty jazz school Tagir Zaripov said in his welcoming speech. The Swiss band opened the festival. Saxophonist of Ost West Inspiration spoke excellent Russian when presenting every song. The band’s official website writes that “the critics call live performances of the band a journey through fantastic worlds of sound”. The musicians gave Almaty residents light blues, sometimes they played dynamically getting lots of applause. Jazz-festival became one of Almaty’s trademarks: consistency, diversity of bands, devotion, famous people. After the hour-long performance of the Swiss band, Pablo Held trio got on the stage. Young musicians have been playing together for the last 6 years. During this time, according to the musicians, they came to fully understand each other. The band has already performed in Astana and will give a concert in Bishkek on April 13. The leader of the German band greeted the audience in Kazakh. “We don’t know what we will play,” he said meaning that the performance will be completely improvised. Almaty Jazz Festival will last until April 15. Today, April 13, the concert will start at 7:00 p.m. During the weekend the concert will start at 4:00 p.m. The Jazz Festival's program is available at Jazz.kz . The Schoolchildren’s Palace of Almaty is located at #114 Dostyk street (corner of Satpayev street).
