Kazakhstani schools will get 300 laptops and 300 tablet computers, Tengrinews.kz reports, citing Nurgali Arshabekov, director of Strategic Planning and Information Technologies Department of the Ministry of Education and Science. The pilot project will be launched in 44 Almaty, Astana and Karaganda schools in the forthcoming school year. One part of the schools is expected to get 300 laptops and the other one – 300 tablet computers. “These will be the best tablet computers, the latest modifications. Every student at the assigned classes will get a tablet computer, but not the whole school, only selected classes,” said Arshabekov. The brands of the new devices have not yet been identified, but the Ministry promised to choose a manufacturer that corresponds to all the software requirements. According to Arshabekov, if the pilot project proves its value, 926 Kazakhstan schools will get laptops and tablet computers in 2013.
