Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia may become new international organization

Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia (CICA) may become a new international organization, Tengrinews.kz reports citing Kazakhstan President. ”Practically CICA came to the level of interaction that fancies the transition to amore effective form of its participation in the system of modern international relations in Eurasia and on the global level. I am talking about the perspective of establishing a comprehensive and new international organization on interaction and confidence building in Asia. That’s what all the CICA members have to work on in the nearest years,” Nazarbayev said at the meeting with the representatives of foreign diplomatic missions. Currently CICA includes 24 member-countries. 8 countries and 3 international organizations, including the UN have the observers’ status. Any country at is at least partly geographically located in Asia may become a member of the organization. Besides, the President told the ambassadors that Kazakhstan sees huge opportunities in the Central Asian region becoming an outpost of the global community in countering international terrorism, extremism, illegal migration, drug trafficking and other contemporary challenges. ”Kazakhstan welcome the activities of specialized representative offices of the UN, OSCE and other international organizations. Kazakhstan sees its mission in the region in consistent enhancement of the system of the regional security and stability. We are ready to enhance our interaction in all issues of the regional security, including under CSTO, SCO, CICA and partnership programs with NATO and other international structures,” the President said.
