According to Mr. Yermukhamet Yertysbayev, President’s advisor, the current Parliament needs political reform, Megapolis quotes him as saying. According to Mr. Yertysbayev, “the parliament is professional, but the society is waiting for reforms, so the Parliament should support President’s suggestion of a bipartisan parliament”. In this context, Mr. Ertysbayev believes, “voluntary dissolution of the Parliament would be natural”. The Advisor stressed that he would want to see in the Parliament a party representing interests of the country’s business community. According to him, interlacement of power in business leaves room for corruption. Separation of the power and business could contribute to greater orderliness. In an earlier interview for Liter newspaper, he suggested forming a bipartisan parliament, “onne like those in the USA or Great Britain”. He emphasized that “Nur Otan is a genuine political powerhouse (…) whereas Atameken Union of Businessmen could be transformed into a new political force. Nur Otan would be a party of state and political elite, public sector enterprises…while the newly-formed Atameken party would be a party of business community, entrepreneurs…”, he said. “This would contribute to full separation of power and business (…) Nur Otan would be pursuing a conservative policy, while the party of entrepreneurs would be striving for greater liberalization of the economy, the government and legislation. They would be checking and balancing each other”, he suggested. Parliamentary elections in Kazakhstan are to be held in 2012.
