Kazakhstan cycler, leader of Astana team, Aleksandre Vinokourov said that he would not mind becoming Minister of Sport, Prosport reports. “Why not? If the party wants me to, I will not shy away. I would be happy to help. Right now I remain in the party’s (Nur Otan) reserve. Right now I’m a cyclist and will cycle until the Olympics,” Vinokourov said. He also noted that the nearest plan of Astana is to win one of the most famous “classic” races. Besides, Kazakhstan team is aiming for the top place at one of three main multi-day races of the season. Vinokourov is not sure whether to take party in Tour de France-2012. “This is a complicated issue. Actually, I have achieved everything I wanted in cycling. I have recently discussed the probability of my participation in this race with the president of this race and could not decide. If I take part, I will not cycle for general classification for sure and maybe for stages as well. Maybe I will just be preparing for the Olympics in France,” the sportsman added. Vinokourov is counting on awards at the Olympics. “We are not going there just to take part. We will fight for good places and even for for awards maybe. Olympic races are unpredictable, not like any other races. There are chances for everyone,” Vinokourov noted. In the last season the leader of Kazakhstan cycling sport was close to completion of his career after falling at one of the stages of Tour de France. Later the cyclist noted that he would not like to “draw the line” this way. Vinokourov was also offered to head Kazakhstan Cycling Feneration, but the sportsman has not given his answer yet.
