Kazakhstan may to terminate its agreement with Russia on use of the military testing site Taissogan located in Atyrau oblast (West Kazakhstan) and currently rented out to Russia's Valeri Chkalov State-run Flight Testing Center. Another territory is to be offered to the Russian side, Minister of Oil and Gas Sauat Mynbayev said when speaking at the plenary session of the Senate today, RIA NOVOSTI reports. “In the territory of the testing site oil has been discovered (…) we have started negotiations with Russia”, the Minister elaborated. “Should we start exploration works and further development, another area will be offered to Russia to test aircraft systems”, he said. Taissogan testing site takes some of the land allocated to EmbaMunaigaz oil company for exploration works. Earlier explorations were made in mid 1990ies, however they were suspended with the testing site emerging in the territory.
