Internet advertising is on the rise

The amount of Internet advertising in Kazakhstan has substantially increased in 2010. Companies paid $4.7 million for Internet advertising in 2010 against $3.1 million in 2009, Profinance.kz reports. An even further 25-30 percent growth is expected in 2011. Internet advertisement costs doubled starting from the beginning of the year, according to Konstantin Gorozhankin, senior manager of Processing.kz, a company promoting e-commerce. “Companies increased their budgets. Last year they spent $10-15 thousand on the Internet, while now the sum is getting close to 30 thousand USD,” he said. However, 38 percent of responders polled by the World Association of Newspapers and News Publishers said that in spite of the increase in advertisement, their income dropped by 20 percent. In the US income from Internet advertising exceeded income from advertisement in printing media last year.
