Renovation of 5000 tenge note is related to introduction of a new series of banknotes called Samruk, Tengrinews.kz reports, citing the chairman of Kazakhstan National Bank Gregory Marchenko. “You must have noticed that we issued a new 10 000 tenge note first. So, we had a full set of banknotes in 2006. This series was called Baiterek. Baiterek monument is depicted at all notes of the series. Now we released 10 000 tenge note, then 5 000 tenge note and this is the beginnning of a new series called Samruk,” Marchenko said during a press-conference in Almaty. He also told that the current series banknotes wouldn’t be replaced very quickly, “because it is a heavy load in terms of changing and for the currency printing factory.” “Introduction of the new series of banknotes will be made stage by stage. We have always said that we would replace the banknotes every 5-6 years. We are adding some new watermarks and taking away some old ones from the notes in order to complicate the work for forgers. So that they can counterfeit the notes,” the chairman said. He added that the new 5 000 tenge note hasn’t been released in circulation yet. Earlier Tengrinews.kz reported that a red 5000 tenge banknotes were issued in Kazakhstan. Commemorative coins dedicated to Dinmukhamed Kunayev anniversary have been released recently as well.
