Kseniya Pervak and Galina Voskobayeva are going play in the main draw of Australian Open, the first Grand Slam series tournament in 2012, Tengrinews.kz reports. “Both tennis professionals are high enough in the rating to begin playing in the main draw. All the issues related to Kseniya's change of citizenship have already been settled,” Marat Baimukhametov, director of Almaty branch of Kazakhstan Tennis Federation said. Mikhail Kukushkin holds the best position among Kazakhstan tennis players according to ATP rating (he is 91th now), but it is not clear yet if he starts playing in the main draw of Australian Open. Perhaps he will start competing in qualification round as well as Andrey Golubev, Yaroslava Shvedova and Sesil Karatantcheva. Australian Open will be held on January 16. Serbian Novac Djokovic and Belgian Kim Clijsters won the last year tournament. Nobody from Kazakhstan sportswomen reached the main draw of the tournament last year. As for men, Golubev and Kukushkin lost in the first round of the main draw last year.
