President Nazarbayev launches Tulpar-Talgo railway cars production facility

Kazakhstan’s President Nursultan Nazarbayev has launched Astana-based Tulpar-Talgo railway cars production facility, Tengrinews.kz reports. The Project is part of the large-scaled State-run Program of Accelerated Industrial Development. The area of the facility makes up 21 hectares, with production units occupying 31 000 square meters. The railways length stands at 4.2 km. The facility is designed to produce up to 150 passenger railway cars a year, with the projected velocity of the railway cars standing at 200 kmph. The cars are fully adjusted to the Kazakhstan’s climate conditions. The Project seeks to reduce travelling times between country regions twofold. Back in 2010 Kazakhstan Temir Zholy National Railways Operator and Patentes Talgo S.L. of Spain agreed on launching a JV to produce and maintain passenger railway cars. Over 30 Kazakhstan’s specialists have taken a specialized training course in Spain. Once the facility hits its projected capacity, a total of 366 new jobs will be created.
