VIDEO: Kazakhstan came second in Almaty Arm-Wrestling Championship

Kazakhstan Arm-Wrestling team became second in the overall ranking of Almaty Championship, Tengrinews.kz reports, referring to Vladimir Dreksler, Kazakhstan Arm-Wrestling Federation president. “The final results have not yet been summed up, but it is already known that Kazakhstan came in second. Our wrestlers won 19 gold medals. Russian team is ahead of us. Ukrainian arm-wrestlers are third,” Dreksler said. More than 1200 arm-wrestlers from all over the world took part in the four-day Almaty World Championship. The sportsmen competed in different categories. There were junior, veterans, handicapped, men’s and women’s, left and right hand tournaments in different weight leagues. Kazakhstan team had been expected to become the leader of the competition before the start of the Championship. The next World Arm-Wrestling Championship will be held in Brazil in 2012. Alfred Clement, president of World Arm-Wrestling Federation (WAF), said that Kazakhstan might host the World Championship again in several years.
