Roy Alfred Clement, Sylvester Stallone's instructor in the Over the Top film will fight for gold in Almaty Arm-Wrestling Championship, Tengrinews.kz reports. The World Championship will start tomorrow, on November 30, in Almaty Sports Palace at the crossing of Abay and Baitursynov streets. Clement, who is also the president of World Arm-Wrestling Federation (WAF), will fight in the veteran category. “It is a double pleasure for me to compete in Almaty, because this city looks like my home Canadian city. The same climate and the same mountains. It is worth mentioning that the competition in Kazakhstan is hosted at a high level. We had four candidate-countries for hosting of World Championship. There were the U.S., Poland, Brazil and Kazakhstan, but we decided to choose Kazakhstan,” Clement said. Meanwhile, Mukhamedolla Agzamov, president of Asian Arm-Wrestling Federation said he expected Kazakhstan wrestlers to become the leaders of the Championship. “We have already been second and third, but now we want more. We need to use this chance of the Championship being hosted in Kazakhstan. The best Kazakh wrestlers can take part this time. Not all the sportsmen can afford to travel abroad to compete.” The competition in Almaty will be held during four days. More than one thousand sportsmen from 40 countries will compete at the event. The event will start at 9.00 a.m. on November 30 and continue until December 3. The entrance is free. Kazakhstan was third in the overall standing in Poland Arm-Wrestling World Cup in October this year. Kazakhstan wrestlers won two gold, one silver and two bronze medals.
